Armando Gabriel studied fashion design at the Gordon Flack Davison Academy of Design in Johannesburg, South Africa. It was clear from the beginning that he was interested in very tailored garments and in particular, corsetry. The history of fashion serves as a great source of inspiration for both cut and aesthetic in his creations. In Johannesburg, he created bespoke garments for clients.
In Milan he studied theatre and film costume design where he had the chance to research and gain even more insight into corsetry.
In 2007, Armando moved to Paris where he has had the good fortune to work with world famous corsetier, Mr. Pearl on corsets and garments for the Thierry Mugler Angel perfume campaign, Diesel, Mr. Pearl's Swarovsky creation for Mumbai Fashion Rocks, Roberto Cavali Couture,Jean Paul Gaultier and corsets for Miss Dita Von Teese. More recently, in colaboration with Mr.Pearl, Armando produced a corset designed by Jean Paul Gaultier for Miss Kylie Minogue used to open the show in her American tour.
This hands-on experience has permited Armando to consolidate even more his knowledge about corsetry and the effects of the corset on the body.
